I haven’t blogged in such a long time, that I completely forgot my password. I tried every password I could think that I would have used and nothing. Oh well :-/ things like this happen.
Sometimes I wonder who exactly is running the systems I work with. Last night we had another failure. That would be the twice in about 2 weeks. The computer people need to stop fucking ‘patching’ the system and ‘replacing parts with spares’ and just take the whole system down and install a new one. It’s not right that I when I get into work, I can’t do shit and I sit there and study for Economics test. Not that I’m complaining about being able to study more, but you know, actually want to WORK sometimes. Hell, I couldn’t even access the files on my computer to clean them out.
How hard is it to tell people that the system is failing because it’s old and we need to upgrade it? It must be pretty damn hard because when the tech people finally get around to emailing everyone and stating that the system is back up, they don’t tell us crap. And why email people at almost 8pm to let us know the system is back up? No one is going to be checking their work emails. Hell I only checked my work email to see if my mom had emailed me before I let her know the system had failed, and that’s how I found it that they had finally fixed it at like 8.
I think it’s pretty “amazing” how the registrator’s department and the advisor’s get two brand new software systems to use and manage the student’s records, etc, but yet, us down in the test center have to BUILD our own Access Database with no help from the computer people. We’ve been trying to get the computer people to come and help us with figuring out how to import emails directly into Excel spreadsheets or into our database, and they never do. Then again, I think I know why they don’t like coming down to the test center.
That reason would be one of my “supervisors”. She’s very snotty and she talks down to everyone. She makes people feel bad even when they didn’t do anything wrong. She drives me up the wall on some days. I don’t know what she’s been doing to her computer, but it runs way slow and is full of useless crap. She accused Shelly(my coworker) of deleting a DRIVE from her computer. As in the “C” drive. And Shelly didn’t, but she told the computer tech that Shelly did and Shelly was standing right there and was like “No I didn’t” and turned and walked away. All I know is that I’m glad this week is almost over. The troll-lady(which is her new name thanks to Joshy) has been in charge–and I use that word loosely–because my headboss had to go deal with some family issues, and my headboss comes back next week. At least I won’t have to deal with the troll-lady being in charge when I have midterms. I swear, I’m already stressing my Economics test, and if I had to deal with her being in charge, I would go insane and just drop everything and walk out of work and not come back.
Speaking of my Ecomonics tests, I had a classmate come up to me and asked me if I could make the test ‘Open book/open notes’ instead of ‘Closed book/closed notes’. I stared at him for about 3mins and told him no and he was like “awww why not!? Well, how about if you let me have a cheatsheet?” and he went on to tell me how he would cheat. I was thinking ‘Are you serious?! You don’t tell the person who will be watching you test and reporting everything back to the instructor how you plan on cheating! That’s just gonna make me watch you harder. Although, I’m thinking of doing what Jeff(my other supervisor) suggested. He suggested that I tell any of the students who ask me to change the test that will cost them 50$ and then just take the money. I’m thinking that would be awesome. And if I do that, I would split all the money I got with the teacher.
